Travel – Hong Kong Pitstop 9 : Sino Centre @ Mong Kok

27 03 2007

Sino Centre at Mong Kok was one of the locations highlighted for a visit in my pre-trip post. I headed there after riding the MTR from Causeway Bay back to Mong Kok. Anyway it was along the way to my hotel where I had planned for a pitstop for my aching legs. I believe Sino Centre should be directly behind the CTMA Centre, along Nathan Road.

The mix of shops here are reminiscent of Oriental 188 – console games, manga/anime and toys. But I would still think that Oriental 188 had a greater concentration of such shops. So if you do not have time for a trip to Oriental 188, Sino Centre should be just fine. And of course there are a variety of other shops selling cloths and other stuff so do not expect a full fletch geek kingdom here.

The toy shops here span from the basement to the upper floors. I forgot to take a picture of the Sino Centre front only when I am back home! So the first pic in this post shows some special offerings from a particular shop in the upper floors. I believe it is a retailer for toy-related costumes. From the glass displays, you can see the 1:1 helmets, belts and… weapons. Photos of the full costumes line the top of the glass displays.

Sino Centre is a recommended visit since there are a good concentration of toys here. And it is right in the middle of the Mong Kok bustling shopping hub and is a stone’s throw from CTMA Centre and Richmond Shopping Centre.
