Incoming – Sideshow 1/6 Salacious Crumb Creature Pack

20 03 2007

I must admit the vastness of the Star Wars galaxy. The only creature in the Sideshow Salacious Crumb Creature Pack that I am familiar with is Salacious Crumb! I have not a clue the names of the other 3 creatures living in this same package. Ok, I’ve seen the toad-like guy sitting outside Jabba’s Palace snacking with the help of its lightning fast tongue. But I did not know that it is a Worrt. Then there is this slug-like creature that I am not too sure if I would cringe when I handle it in a photoshoot. And the thing is that this fella actually has a name… and its supposed to be an intelligent species! Finally, there’s the little guy which is a Sand Skitter. Gosh! There is so much more to know about Star Wars!

And the name of the slug-like creature is called Ghoel. It’s not the name of the species which is called Wol Cabasshite. Wol what? Wol Cabasshite. I could not recall where Ghoel appeared in the Jabba’s Palace scene probably I just took it for some alien parasite… Which is actually what it is… strictly speaking. Anyway, the above picture reveals the scene which Ghoel licked C3PO. While Jabba and most of his henchmen perished at the Pit of Carkoon, Ghoel is one of those who survived because it was not brought along.

Sideshow’s Salacious Crumb Creature Pack is a really interesting offering and a good use of the Star Wars 1/6 licence. Well, at least from the view of a fan of Star Wars. The prospect of recreating the scene in Jabba’s Palace as seen in Return of the Jedi is gradually reaching realism. The standard Star Wars 1/6 products often target the more popular characters from the cult movie. What Sideshow is doing is really to dispel the fog that covers the other minor characters… and creatures. And it is a fantastic strategy since they are doing well in producing collectibles targeting adult collectors who are looking beyond Vader, Maul, Boba and Stormtroopers.

By the way, Worrt and Sand Skitter are names of species. And Jedi Master Saesee Tiin was the padawan of a certain Wol Cabasshite Jedi. Whoa! Learn something new about Star Wars today huh. Check in again for a closer look at all four creatures in the coming review.
